Despite the downturn, leading rural property agents, Broadley & Coulson has announced significant client growth and demand for its services a year after it relocated back to South Street in the centre of Crook, County Durham - the very same premises it occupied when the business originally formed in 1917.
From acting as auctioneers, land agents, estate agents, valuers to chartered surveyors, the firm's diverse range of services have always been in high demand, but even more so since it made the move back to its original roots.
Senior Partner, David Coulson said: "Last year, we relocated back to our original offices that we vacated over 20 years ago as we wanted to be closer to the local community and have a more prominent presence in Crook. The offices are far more central than our previous workplace, allowing us to strengthen relationships with existing clients and build strong relationships with new clients."
Broadley & Coulson specialises in the residential, rural and commercial sectors and have seen demand in all of these areas gradually increase over the last year.
Mr Coulson, who is also the North East Chairman of RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) said: "Market activity across the residential, rural and commercial sectors in our region is continuing to increase, especially residential.
"The recent abolition of Home Information Packs (HIPs) has helped speed up the buying and selling process as we're seeing more sellers bite the bullet and put their homes up for sale, now that they don't have to fork out £300-£400 to market their home. This is encouraging more buyers to the market as there's far more choice available."
Broadley & Coulson has a history spanning over 90 years, boasting second-to-none local knowledge and hands-on rural experience. The firm's niche expertise on the region's rural market also spreads much further afield than its physical geographical presence - encompassing other areas such as Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, Teesside and North Yorkshire.
Mr Coulson concluded: "To stay afloat during one of the worst recession's our country has ever seen is an achievement for any company. So I'm proud that we have not only done this, but we've stayed ahead of the competition by increasing our client base and encouraging more demand for our services by going back to our roots and getting closer to our local community.
"We have built up a strong reputation over the years. We're known to be trustworthy, honest and more than willing to go that extra mile for our clients, so going forward as the economy continues to recover, we hope to build on this and generate increased turnover."
